Rep. Swinford will not file for re-election
State Representative David Swinford informed the Moore County News-Press on Monday that he will not file for re-election in the 2010 Republican Primary. The announcement came after discussing the matter with his family and deciding that 20 years in the state house of representatives and 10 years of service on two school boards should be enough.

Swinford stated, “Sometime you need to stop and reflect about where you have been and what your future should be. I have been doing that this holiday season with my wife Joyce, our children and our grandchildren...It’s time for a new representative to join our Panhandle delegation so our strength as a delegation will continue. New blood is always good when tempered with great experience.”
Victor Leal, Amarillo businessman (CEO of Leal's Restaurants) was in Dumas Wednesday afternoon to announce he will be running for the District 87 seat.
