Dumas is gearing up for two big events — Dogie Days and Relay for Life. Dogie Days kicks off June 9 and runs through June 12 and the Relay for Life is the following weekend, beginning at 7 p.m. on June 18 and concluding at 7 a.m. on June 19.
If you haven’t already got your tickets, don’t forget about the Dogie Days barbecue on June 10 at McDade Park. What a great way to catch up with some old friends. Speaking of chances, don’t miss your chance to purchase extra tickets for the Dodge pickup to be given away Saturday, June 12, at approximately 9 p.m. on the midway during Dogie Days. You can get tickets to the barbecue and tickets for the truck drawing from any Dumas Noon Lion.
Remember, attending the Dogie Days barbecue, buying chances for the truck, making purchases at Lions’ booths and playing Lions’ games helps out over 40 local charities!
Those involved with the local Relay for Life have been working hard to put together another wonderful event. If you have never taken part in the event, consider doing so. It is a very worthwhile cause.
To find out more about the Relay for Life events you may contact John, Sheila or Tish Haltom.
Another big event is just over a month away — the city’s annual Fourth of July celebration.
There are some changes to this year’s event, including the festivities moving from Demon Stadium to the rodeo arena and the event taking place on Saturday, July 3 rather than on Sunday, July 4.
Aside from the fireworks show, another big draw is the mud volleyball tournament that takes place. This is fun for spectators and players alike.
To find out more about the July 4 festivities you may contact Sam or one of the ladies at the chamber of commerce.
I hope each of you have a great summer. Be sure to take time and enjoy one or all of these community events.
