Larry Appel, Superintendent of Dumas Independent School District, has been selected as the Region 16 Superintendent of the Year for 2010 and will represent the area for the state award to be presented in October at the Texas Association of School Administrators/ Texas Association of School Boards Joint Annual Convention in Houston.
Appel was nominated by his local school board and selected through a regional screening process, according to John Bass, Executive Director, Region 16 Education Service Center.
Appel has held the post of superintendent in Dumas since the summer of 1991.
