Moore County Sheriff Bo DeArmond had multiple items on the agenda for Moore County Commissioners' Court to consider Monday morning. Commissioners ended up approving all of the sheriff's requests, including personnel, vehicles and equipment.
The first item brought before the commissioners was the sheriff's request to approve the purchase of two 2012 Chevy Tahoes for his department to use for patrol vehicles. The expenditure of $69,664.50 was approved with funds coming from Out of County Holding. By utilizing these funds, it saves the county from having to place the purchase in the upcoming budget.
With the purchase of those two vehicles approved, commissioners also heard a request to approve a $300 purchase for decals for the vehicles. They approved that request along with a request to purchase two in-car video systems from Copsync at a total cost of $7,700.
Also on the agenda was the sheriff's request to purchase a new intercom system for the jail. The $3,853 purchase was approved.
Commissioners approved the request of Anthony Anderson as a reserve deputy along with approving bond.
The hiring of Lucy Ann Allen as a new jailer effective Sept. 6 was also approved. Allen's starting rate will be $17.41 per hour with a 50 cent increase every six months for one year.
