Sunray’s Lady Cats did what they needed to do, downing the Booker girls 54-48 in recent hoops action and earning a spot in the post season.
“The girls played really determined knowing what was at stake,” said coach Sid Whiteley.
He also said the girls knew they had a huge hole to fill with a starter missing the game due to a bad ankle.
“Caitlin Williams had twisted her ankle Thursday,” Whiteley said.
Although their teammate was injured the day before the game, the Lady Cats stepped up and “everyone filled in and made the difference at times during the game,” Whiteley said.
Kaitlyn Scroggins and Lindsey Williams had the hot hands for Sunray offensively. Scroggins racked up 21 points in the game while Lindsey Williams contributed 16 points.
