Dumas City Commissioners approved the request for a utilities credit at Monday night's board meeting after hearing the circumstances surrounding the request.
Local resident Pauline Parker, who resides on Spruce Street, approached the commission to discuss her situation. Parker said she recently discovered the gas to her home had been turned off. This caused a water line to rupture, causing damage to her home.
Neither Parker nor the City of Dumas turned off the gas so Commissioner Mike Funk said he believed it was neither the fault of the city nor the property owner. It was his recommendation to approve the credit on utilities as requested.
