DEDC board approves community grants

Seven community grants totaling $38,000 were approved by the Dumas Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors at Monday afternoon's meeting. The board followed the recommendation of the grant committee and approved the grants as follows:
Moore County Historical Museum - $4,000
Funds will be used to help with the addition of trailers to protect/store artifacts
Dumas ISD - $11,000
For the construction of an ag barn, which will be constructed by the shop kids
CareNet Pregnancy Resource Center - $2,000
For teaching modules to help expectant parents to be better equipped
The Victory Tree - $4,000
For a green energy project involving the replacement of two air conditioner units with energy-efficient units
YMCA of Moore County - $5,000
For a teen activity zone
Talon Point - $5,000
For remodeling of the lake house and work on the water system
Dumas Baseball/Softball Association - $7,000
For safety netting/crowd control
Dumas EDC received requests totaling almost $83,000 for projects with an estimated total cost of over $142,000.
