County Commissioners ban missile, skyrocket fireworks

The record-breaking drought that continues to plague Texas caused the the Moore County Commissioners on Monday to restrict all fireworks described as "skyrockets with sticks and missiles with fins" in the county.
Dumas Fire Department Chief Paul Jenkins told the commissioners the Keetch,-Byram Drought Index (KBDI) for Moore County is between 600 and 700, creating a fire hazard. The drought index ranges from zero to 800, where zero represents no moisture depletion, and a drought index of 800 represents absolutely dry conditions.
"We're in a dangerous position," Jenkins said.
