Dumas Noon Lions Club prepares for Thursday's barbecue at their recent meat wrap event.
The Dumas Noon Lions Club will kick off the 2014 installment of Dogie Days this evening (Wednesday, June 11) with the opening of the midway at 6 p.m. along the east side of McDade Park. The event runs June 11-14.
Thursday's events include the barbecue at McDade Park beginning at 11 a.m. and the midway opening at 6 p.m.
Friday, the fun continues with the Dogie Days midway again opening at 6 p.m. for an evening of fun, games and carnival rides.
Saturday, the final day of Dogie Days, begins with a parade at 11 a.m. along Dumas Ave. The festivities then move to McDade Park for a noon opening of the midway, which will remain open for almost 12 hours before Dogie Days concludes Saturday night.
Prior to the end of the Dogie Days celebration, a drawing will take place along the midway for the vehicle being given away by the Lions Club. That drawing is scheduled to take place around 9:30 p.m. on the southern portion of the midway.
Proceeds from Dogie Days benefit local non-profit organizations that provide vital services for many of the county's residents.
