A popular summer attraction will be missing from Moore County this summer. Dogie Days will not be taking place in June, according to a statement released Tuesday by the Dumas Noon Lions Club.

According to Boss Lion, or club president, Phil Guerra, “The board met (Tuesday) morning to discuss the 2020 Dogie Days... It is with a heavy heart  that I have to announce the following: The 74th Annual Dogie Days has been cancelled.”

Guerra cited the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions Texas Governor Greg Abbott has in place as reasons for the cancellation.

In a statement to club members Guerra said, “We feel like it is in the best interest of our club and the community to make this decision.”

Guerra also said in his statement that all club meetings will be cancelled indefinitely until “we know more about what the governor will do to allow gatherings.”

Dogie Days is the largest annual fundraiser for the Dumas Noon Lions Club, providing funds for local non-profit organizations.
