An 18-year-old Sunray man died in a one-vehicle accident that took place Saturday around 11 p.m. on FM 722 about three miles west of Dumas.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Ivan Villanueva-Garcia, 18, of Sunray, was traveling northeast on FM 722 in a 2003 Cadillac CTS. The driver veered off the roadway, traveled into the barrow ditch and rolled over. He was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. The DPS report states he may have fallen asleep.

Moore County Justice of the Peace Barbara Mulanax pronounced Villanueva-Garcia dead at the scene.

The DPS says the crash remains under investigation. Road conditions were dry and the weather was clear at the time of the accident.
