I recently learned that a film had been made of the Sunray explosion and fire, as well as the efforts the Moore County News put together for the story. Thanks for the memorials. I was delivering the Sunday Shopper that morning. After I finished my route of about 100 papers to every door, Mr. Campbell, our supervisor, picked me up and we went back to the New office.

Later in the morning , the News published a Special Edition. I was posted on the courthouse squire on main Street to sell papers as people were going to church , the fire station, and the hospital.

They told me to wear my paper bag and wave the paper so people in cars driving by would stop and buy a paper. It was exciting for a 13 year old but sobering as well.
