A fundraiser, sponsored by the Demonette Softball Booster Club, is coming soon to the Dumas High School softball field. The day is set to be lots of fun and a chance for the community to join together.
"I thought it would be really fun for the community to come together," Dumas head softball coach Carlyn Tolleson said. "… I think it would be really cool for the Dumas alumni to come out and take some swings."
At a booster club meeting, they were brainstorming on different fundraising ideas. This came about. Tolleson said she wanted to get the community involved.
"We were known as the home run hitting team because we had 74, so I thought what better way to get everyone involved and have some fun," she said.
If you don't want to hit, you can just come out and meet the team and enjoy a community event, according to Tolleson.
The money will go into the booster club for future use. One of those uses this year is for new uniforms.
She said the players are excited and anxious to get their friends and family out at the ball field. The students have also been asking their teachers and principals to come and enjoy the day.
The event is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 20, from 2-7 p.m. at The Inferno/DHS Softball field.
