On Saturday, Oct. 5, the Dumas Demonettes hosted the Dalhart Lady Wolves in district competition. The Demonettes swept Dalhart in three sets, while the JV and freshman squads handled their opponents in two sets.

The varsity team started off with a 3-0 lead. Dalhart came back and kept it close, with the Demonettes hanging on a 12-6 advantage. They finally ran away with a win at 25-12 in the first set.

In the second set, the Demonettes began with an early lead, but the Lady Wolves came rushing back. The Demonettes struck back and squeezed by with a 25-20 victory in the second set.

Both team fought hard in the third set, nearly going neck and neck with the score. The Demonettes managed to stay in and keep ahead to win 25-21 to take the set and match.

Abree Elsheimer had 11 kills in the match, while Brenley Rodriguez had seven. Sydnee Wackler had 19 assists, and also scored two aces from the service line. Francine Hernandez came in with nine assists.

Anne Elizondo recorded 13 digs and Jadan Price had five.

Niki Kent had 6.5 blocks at the net.

The varsity squad is at .500 and is currently unbeaten within the district.

The JV won in two sets, going 25-12, 25-7 to take the match, while the freshman team won 25-9, 25-13.

Overall, the JV sits at 14-7, while the freshman are 17-4. Like the varsity, the JV and freshman teams are also unbeaten in the district.

Next up for the Demonettes is a trip to Pampa to take on the Lady Harvesters next Saturday, Oct. 12, beginning at 11 a.m.
