The Dumas Demonettes at the Lady Horns Classic wrestling tournament on Jan. 10-11.

The Dumas wrestling teams competed over the weekend, Jan. 10-11, where they fought hard and did well in competition. The Demonettes were at the 20th Annual Lady Horns Classic, while the Demons competed at the Cushing Tiger Invitational. The Dumas JV team was in Colorado at the Lamar Savage Tournament.

For the Demonettes, they finish in fifth place in five rounds in their first major tournament action.

1 – El Paso Franklin, 59.0

2 – Hereford, 57.5

3 – Caprock, 54.0

4 – Prosper, 53.0

5 – Dumas, 45.0

The Demon wrestling team battled through 42 teams to finish in ninth place. Ah Lee Yart, Diego Falcon, Davin Gates and Karlo Sanchez reached the quarterfinals. Three wrestled on the consolation side - Robert Ruiz, Damien Melton, Juan Romero.

Gates became the runner up at the tournament. Falcon came back from a deficit to win third place, while Yart took fourth place in his match.

The JV wrestlers placed several in the top six. Results are as follows from the Lamar Savage Tournament in Colorado:

132 - Michael Bargas, third

138 - Ethan Garcia, sixth

145 - Caden venzor, fifth

195 - Cesario Martinez, fifth

220 - Jaime Sanchez, fourth

285 - Manny Cedano, sixth
