The Dumas Demons took to the court for the first time this 2020-2021 season on Saturday, Nov. 14, in Dalhart. Jumping to a 20-10 lead after one quarter, the Demons didn't slow down as they went on their way to a 78-46 road win to start the season.

The team shot 54 percent from the floor and added 42 percent of free throws and still outscored Dalhart's 53 percent shooting and 60 percent of free throws.

The scoring went as follows:

Issac Ortiz was the leading scorer for the Demons with 30 points. He also picked up two rebounds, 5 assists and two steals. Cristian Kelso and Johnny Reynaga had 18 and 16 points, respectively, in the contest.

Cristian Kelso – 18 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block; Johnny Renaga – 16 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 9 steals; Jerry Rodriguez – 5 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal; Nathan Gomez – 4 points, 2 assists, 3 steals; Ivan Vazquez – 2 points, 1 rebound, 1 steal; Aaron Lawrence – 2 points, 2 assists, 1 block; Khamarion Williams – 1 point, 1 steal; Matthew Reynaga – 2 rebounds, 1 assist; Dax Doster – 1 rebound, 1 assist; Matthew Tapp – 1 assist.

Dumas varsity had a rescheduled contest with Sunray for Wednesday, Nov. 18, but was canceled. The next contest will be on Tuesday, Nov. 24, as Dumas will host Bushland with the freshman game beginning at 4:30 p.m.
