The Dumas Demons and Demonettes traveled for some action on the court with Guymon on Tuesday, Dec. 3. The Demons pulled away with a win, while the Demonettes struggled to keep pace and fell 55-42.

For the Demonettes, Danny Duran led with 19 points and eight rebounds. Macie Medrano put up seven points and had four assists. Sheda Madit and Sydney Jinkins each had six points in the game, while Madit had seven rebounds and one assist and Jinkins recorded three rebounds and two assists.

Brenley Rodriguez also scored for the Demons with a bucket and two free throws. She also had eight rebounds and one assist.

Vanessa Martinez picked eight rebounds while teammates Candy Contreras and McKenzie Johnson each had two rebounds. Janell Mares had one rebound and Kamryn Cox recorded one assist.

As a team, the Demonettes scored 34 percent from the floor, while completing 35 percent of three-pointers. They made 3-of-8 free throws and recorded five steals.

The Demons came away with a victory for the second in a row after defeating the Guymon Tigers 37-26 on Tuesday.

In the win, Dumas shot 10-of-31 from the floor and made 57 percent of their free throws.

Several players contributed to the scoring in the win. After being shut down 7-3 in the first quarter, the Demons outscored the Tigers 34-19 to notch another win on the road.

Angel Pelayo led with nine points. Christian Kelso, Aiden Venzor and Johnny Reynaga each put up five points. Colton Johnson and David Chavez came in with four points each. Dylan Cortez and Isaac Nevarez had two points each and one rebound. Isaiah Nevarez had one point and one rebound.

Pelayo also had four rebounds. Kelso had six rebounds and two assists, while Venzor recorded six rebounds.

Reynaga had one assist and three rebounds and Johnson grabbed two rebounds.

The Demons and Demonettes are on the road again in tournament play, beginning Thursday, Dec. 5.

The freshman boys will play in the Amarillo ISD tournament Thursday and Saturday, while the JV squad competes in the Canyon tournament Thursday and Saturday. The varsity is away at the Lamesa tournament through Saturday.

The freshman and JV Demonettes will participate in the Friona tournament through Saturday, while the varsity team will be at the Lamesa tournament through Saturday.
