The Dumas Demons traveled to Bushland Tuesday, Nov. 26, and squared off with Bushland on the court for high school basketball action.
In the first quarter, Bushland pulled ahead 10-11. Dumas rebounded in the second quarter and put up 27 points, but trailed 39-38 at the end of the first half.
The two teams battled, but could not put any points on the board in the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Dumas outscored Bushland 15-8 and got the victory, 53-47.
Aiden Venzor was the leading scorer for Dumas with 23 points. He also had eight rebounds and three assists.
Christian Kelso had nine points for the Demons and one assist, while David Chavez scored eight points and a rebound. Also for the Demons, Devyn Hutcherson and Dylan Cortez came in with four points. Johnny Reynaga put up three, while Colton Johnson put two points on the board.
Dumas finished the night with 21-of-50 field goal attempts and 8-of-20 three-point shots. As a team, they shot 3-of-6 free throws for 50 percent success.
Dumas goes on the road to Guymon Tuesday, Dec. 3. They are currently 1-2 on the season.
The freshman travel to Amarillo for a tournament this weekend, Dec. 5 and 7, while the JV and varsity teams compete in tournament play as well. The JV squad will go to Canyon, while the varsity travels to Lamesa.
