The Dumas Demons competed in the Amarillo tournament March 12-14. They played two games on Thursday and then two on Saturday. The Demons lost the first matchup on Thursday with Randall 7-2, and then fired up the bats in their second game that afternoon by defeating Palo Duro 12-2. Amarillo fought back and defeated Dumas 6-5 in the first game Saturday afternoon. Dumas then shut out Caprock to win 4-0.
The Demons were shut out through most of the game against Randall, scoring only two runs in the sixth inning. Randall put up seven runs. They had 11 hits and three errors. Dumas had four hits and two errors.
Raul Bustamante started the game for the Demons. He allowed 11 hits and seven runs through six innings. He struck out two and walked one.
The Demons put up five runs in the top of the first in their second contest on Thursday. They scored seven more late to end the game in six innings. Dumas recorded 11 hits and two errors, while Palo Duro had five hits and six errors.
Getting the start for Dumas was Blake Boelter, who allowed five hits and two runs in six innings. He also struck out five.
Amarillo scored six runs in the first two innings on Saturday, leading 6-0 going into the fifth inning. The Demons fired up the bats again and scored five runs in the top of the fifth, but couldn't quite finish it.
Colton Johnson got the start for Dumas. He allowed six hits and six runs in two innings, and he walked one.
The Demons played their final game of the tournament Saturday afternoon. They faced Caprock on the Diamond Bryan Cabeen on the mound for the Demons.
Dumas scored two runs in the top of the first to take the lead over Caprock. They scored two more runs late in the game to go up to four.
Cabeen allowed only five hits and no runs as the Demons shut out Caprock in a low-scoring 4-0 contest.
Dumas had nine hits and one error, while Caprock recorded five hits and two errors.
