The seventh grade and eighth grade Demonettes traveled to Plainview on Thursday, Sept. 10 to take on Coronado. The young ladies swept Coronado in two, while the seventh A team suffered one set loss, but took the match 2-1.

The seventh A team took the first set 25-14. They played hard, but fell in the second set 21-25. In the third set, the Demonettes commanded the court and defeated Coronado 25-16.

Scoring for the Demonettes was Suzette Reyes with 10 aces from the service line, while also picking up four digs. Emarie Marquez had five aces, while Aaliyah Chairez had four and also one dig and one assist. Amy Silva and Aileen Cota each served up an ace from the service line.

Star Cortez had one kill, as did Gabby Alvarez. Vida Fierro recorded two digs and two kills for the Demonettes.

Jalyssa Medrano recorded a dig, while Jackie Herrera had two assists in the match.

The B team took the court and handled Coronado in two sets, going 25-7, 25-14.

Berr Kat Be led the scoring, serving 10 aces from the service line. She also had two digs and four assists. Alyssa Deleon served two aces, while also recording a dig for the Demonettes. Danity Garcia also had two aces. Additionally, Haley Winegarner, Lisbeth Ibarra, Natalee Keenan and Denisse Macias each served up an ace during the match. Winegarner also had five assists, as well as Ibarra coming in with one assist and four digs. Keenan recorded two assists and two digs for the Demonettes.

Yadelyn Gavierio had two assists, while Briza Lozoya  and Kamrie Cox each had one assist and also one dig. Jazmin Sierra recorded two assists and one dig in the contest.

The eighth grade teams fought in two sets each. The A team won 25-16, 25-22.

Haliee Martin led with six aces. She also had one kill and one block at the net. Jazlin Flores served four aces and also had 10 digs for the Demonettes.

Chloe Wagnon had three kills, while Adi Farni had one ace, five assists and two digs for the Demonettes. Madison Willis recorded a dig.

Hailee Vazquez was a force with one ace, two kills, two digs, one block and two tips. Kennedy Clements had one assist in the match. Bob Purcell recorded three digs, one ace and two assists, and Tessa Cook had two kills.

Rylee Schacher recorded four blocks at the net and two kills. Libby Weatherford also contributed three digs for the the Demonettes in the match.

The B team got off to a roaring start by going 25-6 in the first set and 25-5 in the second. Andrea Aguirre led with 13 aces and also recorded a dig.

Addie Guest had seven aces and three assists, and Serrese Guillen served four aces.

Also for the Demonettes, Avrie Gutierrez had four digs, one assist and one ace; Arelie Vasquez had one dig, two assists and two kills; Sania Reyes had one assist, one dig and one kill. Kaylee Law scored one kill and one ace.

Nayeli Olivas had one dig and one tip for the Demonettes, while Camila Lopez had two tips, two assists, one dig and one ace. Jazzlyn Talamantes recorded a kill.

The Demonettes next scheduled home match is Sept. 24 as they host Estacado, with start times at 4 p.m.
