The Powerlifting season has begun for Dumas High School. On Saturday, Jan. 11, the group competed in their first meet and the boys took second place, while the girls finished in fourth place. There were 21 total lifters at the meet from Dumas and half of them placed in the top three as individuals.

The girls who participated were Marisol Mendoza, Brianna Bustamante, Jazmin Williams, Lyssa Dunnam, Damita Estrada, Britney Olivas, Vanessa Martinez, Denisia Garcia, Emory Buchenau, America Areniver and Destiny Cervantes. The following boys competed at the meet: Bryan Ordaz, Uriel Ibanez, Damian Mendoza, Jose Chavira, Hector Borrunda, Cade Cox, Dallan Dill, Chris Delatorre, Omar Hernandez and Lucas Martinez.

5 – Plainview, 16 points

6 – Canyon Randall, 11 points
