The Dumas varsity soccer teams competed in tournaments to start the new year. On Jan. 2-4, the Demonettes were at the Burleson tournament, while the Demons played at the Frenship tournament. The Demonettes came away with a 3-1 record over the weekend. The Demons went 0-2-1 in their tournament play.
The girls got a victory in their first match over Western Hills by going 6-5 in PKs. They grabbed another win over Estacado by doing the same thing with a 4-3 win in PKs. They fell in the third game 0-1 to Everman. The girls managed another victory by going 4-3 in PKs over China Spring.
The boys finished their first game Thursday, Jan. 2, and tied with Permian 1-1. They went to their next game on Jan. 3 against Eastwood and allowed four goals to fall 0-4. The Demons went on to face Cooper in a third game and lost 0-3.
