On Tuesday morning, May 4, the members of the Dumas High School track team departed for Austin for the state track meet. This year, 3A and 4A schools will be participating beginning on Thursday, 2A and 5A on Friday, and 1A and 6A on Saturday.

Those attending the state meet this year are Emmanuel Ibanez, Oliver Ortiz, Christian Carrera and Cade Cox made up the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams. Additionally, Ibanez placed second in the pole vault at regionals. Sarai Chavez will be competing in the 800-meter run, as she place second at regionals in the event.

Coaches David Waddell, Jackie Graves, Kamron Lingor, Hugo Aguinaga, Aaron Dunnam and David Wylie escorted the young athletes to Austin.
