In the midst of this basketball district season, the Dumas Demonettes find themselves at 1-2 with a 6-14 overall record after the loss to the Canyon Lady Eagles on Tuesday. Dumas is scheduled to take on Perryton on Friday.
The Lady Eagles took a 15-0 lead in the first quarter until Sheda Madit finally put one in for the Demonettes late in the quarter. Abree Elsheimer shot a free throw mid-way through the second quarter before Canyon shot five more points to lead 35-3 at the half. The Demonettes could not overcome the deficit and as the Lady Eagles shot well in the second half, adding 25 more points over the Demonettes, and taking the win 60-10.

Dumas did not fare well in the shooting game, making 4-of-32 shots for 13 percent to Canyon's 48 percent. Canyon made 6-of-14 of three-point shots and free throws, while Dumas completed 0-of-16 three-point shots and 2-of-3 free throws for 67 percent at the line.
Madit made six of the 10 points for Dumas and was the leading scorer.
