The Demon Defense had a dominant showing Tuesday in Plainview against Coronado Middle school. Both the Orange and Black teams produced shutouts, keeping Coronado out of the endzone in each game.

The Black team were attacked through the air, giving an opportunity to Israel Soto, Roberto Vasques, Diego Perez, and Elijah Chaves to make plays on the ball and shut down Coronado’s receivers. Jarret Fernandez and Rayce Thornburg shut down the ground game tallying several tackles each on the day.

The Orange team had a very tight first quarter, and going into the second quarter the score was 0-0. It was a defensive battle. Once the Demon offense punched into the endzone, the defense did not let up. Jorge Murga, Jayden Gutierrez and Daniel Acosta racked up multiple tackles and shut down Coronado’s ground game, both defensively and on special teams. Briggs Satterfield, Bryce White, and Ayden Sanchez made sure nothing got by them through the air, with several pass break-ups. Overall, the Demons showed a lot of grit on defense this week, not allowing a single point scored in either game. The seventh grade football teams will be clashing with Canyon next Tuesday at the Demon Stadium, looking to revenge a loss from earlier in the season.

The Black team offense put of 42 points in their win led by Jojo Ortiz who threw touchdown passes to Rayce Thornburg, and Alex Lugo ran in a 45-yard touchdown. Rayce Thornburg rushed for 126 yards and caught a pass for a TD. A Bee ran for two scores. David Pena powered in and a point conversion, and Alex Lugo had a pass reception for 37 yards.

The Orange Team offense came away with a win putting up 34 points led by Briggs Satterfield. He had touchdown passes for seven and 50 yards to Daniel Acosta and a 25-yard touchdown pass to Bryce White. He also completed a pass to Shine Sopya for an extra point, rushed for 75 yards and returned a punt for a touchdown. Zyeer Garcia ran in two extra point conversions and rushed for 35 tough yards.
