Eight Dumas High School student-athletes have been honored for their academic abilities for the current school year. All of them come from various sports such as Powerlifting, baseball and golf. These names were selected by the Powerlifting Associations and Texas Coach Association.

According to information from the Texas High School Powerlifting Association and Women's Powerlifting Association, Davin Gates, Damian Mendoza and Lyssa Dunnam have all been named to the Academic All-State Second team from DHS.

Additionally, the Texas High School Coaches Association has honored several other DHS students for academic achievement. The THSCA Academic All-State Teams recognize high school athletes who excel in the following categories: GPA, class rank and ACT/SAT score, according to the website.

The names are as follows for baseball:

Colton Johnson, Honorable Mention

Caleb Stovall, Second Team

Three student-athletes in golf were honored. Those individuals are:

Claire Thompson, Elite Team

Mason Shockey, Honorable Mention

Addison Cross, Honorable Mention
