Although Sunray did not place as a team at the recent cross-country meet on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 11-12, in Amarillo, several individual runners did well among a vast competition. Three individuals also received medals for their efforts during the meet.

Zahir Loya finished 14th with a time of 19:41.69 in the 5,000-meter run, Division C. Also running in this division for the Sunray boys were Erik Escapita, who had a time of 20:26.63, placing 16th; Walker McGaughy, who placed 30th with a time of 24:34.61 and Gus Shirley came in 34th place with a time of 25:26.70.

On the girls side, Katelyn Hernandez and Kali Flores received medals by placing third and 11th, respectively, in the 3,200-meter run, Division C. Their times were 13:47.70 and 14:17.29. The other two girls running for the Ladycats were sisters Ella and Anna Strickland. Ella came in 17th place with a time of 14:31.50, while Anna finished in 35th place with a time of 15:31.34.
