On Saturday, Dec. 7, the Dumas Junior High School boys and girls wrestled at Vernon. Both came away with a win.

For the boys, Ivan Maggallanes won the 80A bracket and Azriel Reyes placed second. In the 80B bracket Joshua Lawrence placed first, Travyn Phillips placed third and Ely Olivas finished fourth. In the 89A bracket, Carlos Magallanes placed second and Jorge Mendoza placed third. Ezven Venzor placed second in the 98A bracket. In the 106A, Aaron Rodriguez placed second. In the 106B bracket, Dustin Coey placed fourth. In the 113, Jacob saenz placed first. In the 120B, Xzavian Sartain placed second.

In the 132A, Bronson Baxter placed first, Luis Escarcega placed third and Joel Lozoya placed fourth. In the 140A bracket, Nathan Gonzalez placed first. In the 140B Blake Austin placed first. Jashua ramirez finished second in the 150. In the 162B, Adolfo Amador placed second. In the 175A Alberto Sanchez placed first and Rene Castrejon placed fourth. In the 200 Arnoldo Hernandez placed first.

The DJHS varsity girls kicked off the weekend of wrestling on Friday night for a special “Ladies Night Out” dual against Vernon. Lyza Hernandez, Briseyda Barron, Sania Reyes, Serese Guillen, Elaina Morgan, Hayley Hernandez, Illiana Ruiz, Yexelyn Salazar, Andrea Aguirre, and Jolee Jones competed as a team beating out Vernon 3-57.

On Saturday, the JV girls joined the varsity girls in Vernon for a full day of wrestling, taking first place with 217 points.
